Travis Scott is in the music conversation currently for a wide range of reasons — from the Jackboys 2 rollout to him getting dissed by Clipse on their lead single for the album. But in midst of all the noise, there is undeniable music that Travis won’t stop releasing.
Case in point is his latest surprise collaboration — ‘Where Was You,’ which saw an official release as part of the latest Jackboys 2 project. That’s not the only shocker; Travis actually has Playboi Carti on the project. The two avant-garde rappers go back and forth over a trap beat with a plucky sample that is more reminiscent of eastern influences in hip hop.
The two voices compliment each other like bread and butter, and have a relaxed drawl with which they’re delivered. Surprisingly, one does not outshine the other; instead the two bounce off each other in a meticulous back and forth that is testament to their artistic chemistry on the record.
The rest of the album is a sonic journey through 17 tracks, and is a project that streamer Kai Cenat rated a 9.5/10. The album features the usual suspects for a Jackboys 2 type of sound: Future, 21 Savage, NBA Youngboy, Kodak Black, Glorilla and more!
On one of the tracks ‘Champain & Vacay,’ Travis even clapped back at the Clipse diss. With one bar at his disposal, Travis chose to respond with “Man I swear these old n****s k*ll me… Made a 100 off pushin’ T’s, now my phone on DND.”
Now, Clipse don’t seem like the kind to hold back and lay low. Will we really get to witness an all out diss battle between the two artists? Stay tuned to find out. In the meantime, check out the project below!
